Talking About Tech as a Family
Module 1 — Talking About Tech as a Family

The Room, the Door, the Phone
For parents: Nora, 11, has been in her room for half an hour. The door is closed. You can see the phone light under the door gap. You knock. No answer. You open the door. Nora quickly shoves the phone under the blanket.
"What were you doing?" you ask.
"Nothing."
You know this moment. And you know: everything you say next decides how Nora will look at you the next time something really bad happens.
For kids: Imagine your mum or dad walks into your room while you're on your phone. Straight away they ask what you were doing. Maybe it was completely harmless. Maybe you were surprised or embarrassed. But do you feel ready to explain everything right this second?
This module is for both of you. Because good conversations about tech at home only work when both sides get to talk.
